Simulation of Interaction Between Groundwater and Surface Water in Safwan-Zubair Area, South of Iraq

Groundwater in arid and semi-arid regions, such as the studied area (Safwan Al-Zubair area, south of Iraq), is specific meaning a major source for domestic use irrigation demand. There need to better understand interactions between groundwater surface water (Shatt Al-Basrah Canal). These can negatively affect quality this especially that Shatt Canal contains highly concentrated pollutants. The aim study investigate temporal disparity river-aquifer count amount river interchange among canal aquifer. In research, new concept paradigm will be advanced utilizing RIVER package River Paradigm (MODFLOW) simulation interaction operations. Six monitoring wells are chosen evaluate preliminary historical hydraulic heads six months then all collected data Modflow execute numerical modeling assessment groundwater. seepage out from towards aquifer was (64.99 m3/day) wet season (winter season), result high levels compared dry equal (336.8 m3/day).
